Syer Hair & Beauty in Sutton Coldfield has been named Salon of the Year 2012 - Central England - by the National Hairdressers' Federation.

Salon owner Kimberley Syer accepted the award from celebrity hairdresser, Lee Stafford, in the glittering ceremony at the Holte suite at Aston Villa football club.

Kimberley joined the family company in 1993, eventually taking over from her father, Kenneth, who at the age of 73 has given 57 years to the hairdressing industry.

She said: "We are delighted - we always believe in apprenticeships and high standards and it's very pleasing and gratifying to think that we are doing it right. It was lovely to be able mention my dad at an event which was also attended by experts like Trevor Sorbie and Beverly C."

"We want to thank our clients and anybody else who voted for us," she added.
