Summer haircare: top tips from blue tit, london PONT SMITH, ACADEMY DIRECTOR, BLUE TIT, REVEALS HIS TOP HOLIDAY HAIRCARE TIPS FOR SUMMER 2016 Changing products in hotter weather shouldn’t be limited to skincare, Pont Smith, Academy Director at Blue Tit gives us his top tips for holiday haircare to keep your clients locks luscious all summer.
  •  During sun-exposure it's really important to make sure clients are always using a sun-protection product. Something like the Davines SU Milk is a leave-on treatment that offers all the benefits of a cream, with the lightness of a spray. Ideal both during and after exposure to the sun, it contains protective filters and has a light texture to condition hair, without weighing it down. Before exposure to the sun, spray all over dry or wet hair. To boost the conditioning benefits, use post-sun exposure, as a leave-on, conditioner, after shampooing. While hair is exposed to the sun, tie it in to a braid, twist or top knot, to keep the weaker hair ends away from the sun.
  • Coloured hair needs extra care and attention on holiday as sun and chlorine strip the pigment, leaving colour looking faded and dull. Use products specifically tailored to coloured hair. The Davines Essential Minu products illuminate and protect cosmetically coloured hair and the miniature travel-sized versions of the MINU Shampoo, Conditioner and Hair Mask are ideal holiday companions.
  • After a day in the sun, lost moisture, shine and softness needs to be replenished with a rich hair mask, specifically created for post-sun exposure. Look at it as aftersun for the hair.
  • Finally, treating hair with a deeply-hydrating hair oil should be a part of everyone’s holiday haircare routine. Davines Authentic Nourishing Oil is a multi-use product, which can be used on the hair and body, so is perfect for travelling with. Use on very dry hair, concentrating on the very ends of the hair, to hydrate and soften. The oil is saturated with Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids and Vitamin E, which are all rich in antioxidants, essential following time spent in the sun. With extremely long hair, the oil can be applied to the lengths, taking care to avoid the ends, so as not to weigh the hair down.
