In stark contrast to the sleek trend, creatives will be combining crimping, plaits, curls, and more for a truly unique look. At Christian Dior, the fishtail plaits of Spring/Summer received an update with fluffy texture and dramatic volume.
Robert Masciave of Metropolis Hairdressing, Kingston-upon-Thames, explains: "Set long hair with jumbo heated rollers, remove and back brush. Mist hairspray on to the brush as opposed to directly on the hair, so as to not weigh it down. Brush downwards, teasing the hair into a cloud-shaped, hazy silhouette. Pin underneath towards the base of the neck, but don't secure with too much scaffolding, as the idea is to make the hair bounce with every step, with the illusion it's going to topple at any minute."
In other words, let your imagination run riot, and get experimenting - this trend lends itself to originality. "The perpetually gregarious Dior house is a pioneer of haute couture hair designs," says Robert. "It has put the minimalistic, natural hairstyles favoured by other fashion houses in the shade with this three dimensional hair art. It just goes to show that the fantastical trend won't disappear easily, especially when you have advocates for dramatic looks like Lady Gaga on the scene."
