Spring is in full swing and while most see this an opportunity to dust out the old and in with the new don't forget to encourage your clients to spring clean their haircare regime as well!
We spoke to International Creative Director of HOB Salon, Akin Konizi, for his top tips on how to get your clients hair in the best shape for the sun.
Find the Right Mix
'Different hair types mean clients need a different combination of products that work for them as an individual. This doesn’t always mean using all of the same products from one range, it’s a good idea to mix it up for the best results, and particularly going into summer. The Wella Energycode range is a great range to recommend as it covers a huge range of needs in one consultation.'
Heat Protection
'Clients often miss out this vital step. With the weather heating up and added sun exposure from holidays and being outdoors it’s more important than ever to ensure every client uses a heat protection spray. I recommend Trillant by Sebastian Professional because it adds a lightweight shine while still offering thermal protection. Apply it to damp hair all over, paying special attention to the mid lengths and ends. Another tip to reduce hair damage is to use a hairdryer with a medium heat at the roots and a lower heat on the ends and always dry in a downward motion.'
Use Oil for Bad Hair Days
'Hair is porous, which means it's affected by the moisture in the environment around us. In spring, we see longer and brighter days, but the mixture of damp and warm weather opens the cuticles, making hair prone to frizz. Encouraging clients to use a a serum or oil will help add moisture to lengths and ends, keeping them smooth and soft. The EIMI Velvet Amplifier is a pump primer that can be worked through hair before styling, great for days when hair is a bit harder to control.'
Introduce a Hair Mask
'The sun dehydrates hair and it’s as important to communicate to your clients that hair needs to be as moisturised as skin. hair takes a lot of stress with our day to day life-chemical exposure and again as a result of changing temperatures. Suggest a mask once a week as part of your clients ‘me-time’ for smooth, shiny hair that will look great in the sunshine.'
