In the salon, we're starting to see people
changing their look for winter. There’s lots of chat about people going dark, although most people seem to want to cling on to the blonde for one more appointment.

We're also starting to see a shift away from the
'Posh' style to an even shorter, choppier, more edgy style. Jenna, our Style Director has gone for it and the clients are starting to follow suit.
Short hair is definitely the trend at the moment. As for me, I'm really back in the thick of my training and last week we had to do a few tests - sitting in silence.
Now that my days are spent chatting to clients and colleagues in the salon, spending time in silence is a bit of a shock to the system and it put me into a bit of a panic.
Next week, I'm off to the training Salon at
Pangbourne for assessments on one-length cuts.
Assessments like that are tricky because the only way to practice is to do it - and you can only do it if you have a willing model!
Unfortunately, I haven't had any models to practice on, so instead I'll have to watch a DVD on one-length cuts in the training room.
I watched the DVD on blow dries before that assessment and I found it really helpful. Obviously, it is good to learn in the salon environment, but DVDs are great because you can really stare at what they are doing without making anyone paranoid or putting anyone off.
Wish me luck...
