Sexy Hair hosted their first UK conference this month which featured high profile guest speakers, the announcement of a new Sexy Hair competition and a catwalk by the Sexy Hair creative team.
HJ was there to experience it first-hand...
Held at Crowne Plaza in Gerrard's Cross, Buckinghamshire, the event saw leading Sexy Hair representatives, including international education director Skot Foster and sales manager Stuart Laing and Ross Johnson for Alan Howard, reveal the Sexy Hair plans for the year ahead. As sponsors of the Fellowship for British Hairdressing, Sexy Hair were keen to stress that education is front of mind for 2019.
Edward Hemmings of Alan D education hosted the day's events and introduced the first speaker Gianni Scumani, international stylist and creator of the 1990s style 'The Fanni'. Gianni talked the audience through his career trajectory from working in his father's barber shop at 12 years old to shooting campaigns for leading fashion houses. He kept the audience enthralled with his varied tales which included working with Sassoon, styling the manes of horses (yes, he actually put extensions on a horse) and his continuing career as the go-to stylist for portrait photographer David Bailey and fashion photographer Tim Walker.
Errol Douglas MBE stepped in to treat the audience to an Errol omnibus, as sadly Craig Chapman of hairdot.com wasn't able to attend. Throughout the day Errol created a series of looks that brought to life the Sexy Hair muse and showcased Errol's distinctive style – it also included Sexy Hair's unmistakable black and red branding. The Sexy Hair creative team wowed the audience with their skills and use of the Sexy Hair range. Excitingly, all of the hair looks created on the day were shot backstage by esteemed hair photographer Barry Jeffrey. This created a stunning series of images and video footage that were shown as the finale of the first Sexy Hair Conference.
To round off the day's event, two new and exciting Sexy Hair initiatives were announced. The Sexy Master Competition 2019, a photographic competition that gives one lucky winner the chance to get the winning collection shot by Barry Jeffrey, and the Sexy Hair Advocate programme, where a salon representative is nominated to attend Fellowship for British Hairdressing events, gain specialist product knowledge and be introduced to key industry figures that will inspire and motivate.
The event was concluded with a dinner and disco at the Crowne Plaza, as well as the Alan Howard: By Me awards and a catwalk show of the looks that were created during the conference.
