Sassoon welcomed a host of international guests to Salon International with a gala dinner at the London Film Museum.

Following welcome drinks on the London Eye, guests were ushered into the spectacular museum space on the South Bank for cocktails and canapes.

More than 150 guests representing Sassoon salons from across America, Europe and the UK descended on the museum on the opening night of Salon International, in a year which has seen the eyes of the world on London; particularly for the Sassoon brand.

In keeping with a year celebrating all things British - and honouring the heritage of the Sassoon brand - the theme of the evening was 'Made in London'.

Following a rousing performance from the London Contemporary Voices choir, P&G global education leader Michelle Mason announced that the brand would be honouring the legacy of Vidal Sassoon with a new $1.5million scholarship fund in association with the Beauty Changes Lives society. In an evening rich with memories of Vidal, Michelle quoted the late, great visionary's thoughts on education: "If I keep all the good ideas to myself, they will die with me."

International creative director, Mark Hayes, then took to the stage to share some poignant memories of Vidal's impact, before a presentation from the creative team which brought to life those influences in spectacular style.

Inspired by New York artists, the new collection included a pastel-hued shattered bob and shrunken styles with micro-fringes for a 21st century update on classic Sassoon looks.

Following a gourmet three-course dinner in the elegant rotunda of the museum, guests enjoyed further creative presentations showcasing the Sassoon Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, Hair! - hippy luxe looks focussing on longer lengths - as well as a sneak preview of the Spring/Summer 2013 collection, Iconic.
