International creative director Mark Hayes opened the Sassoon Academy Live Show at Salon International 2012 with a tribute to the late, great Vidal Sassoon, saying: "This year we will honour his memory by continuing the work he loved so much."
And what a fitting tribute it was, with a stunning array of cutting and colour artistry as only Sassoon Academy can do it.
The show began with an energetic retrospective of its two collections from earlier in the year - Elegiac and Hot Rod, followed by presentations by both the Colour and Academy teams, demonstrating the kills that make the Sassoon Academy world-renowned.

Making its debut at Salon International was Sassoon's latest collection, Downtown - a juxtaposition of warm and cool tones, placed using camouflage technique of shapes on shapes, working with rounded, sculptured sections on hair of all lengths and textures.
Inspirations for the collection were diverse, including Louise Brooks, Debbie Harry and Edie Sedgwick.

The show finale saw more than 50 models on-stage, representing all the key looks from the collection.
The show concluded with a poignant tribute to Sassoon's iconic five-point cut, with a model recreating the look that has graced so many magazine covers, live on stage.
