Saskia-De-Brauw-hairSupermodel Saskia de Brauw is one of the new crop of short-haired stunners taking the runway by storm; and we're talking seriously short. The gorgeously gamine style has helped Saskia snare coveted spots in high-profile catwalk shows including Chanel Couture, Louis Vuitton, Givenchy and Stella McCartney and she's also won prized campaigns with Prada, Fendi, Armani and Lanvin - not to mention a role as the first female face of Saint Laurent menswear, where she rocked a series of suits in seriously androgynous style. Her boyish crop hasn't just charmed the fashion world either; David Bowie selected Saskia to appear in his comeback single, The Stars. But is this sort of seriously short style really workable for day to day life? And if your clients want to go daring with their do, how do you make sure it works? We spoke to Paola Pinto from the Rush Hair artistic team for her verdict... "I find this short cut so liberating. It’s refreshing to see women cut all their hair off in a time when we too often see big blow-dries with as many hair extensions as we can fit onto one head! "However, be warned that this extreme crop will not suit everyone. It can have a very androgynous feel – like on Saskia – but can be kept looking feminine by going for a slightly softer, more pixie-style crop. "If a client has decided they want to go for a crop you must be certain they know the exact outcome. Having a good bone structure helps and shorter styles work well on oval head shapes. If you feel they are not absolutely certain, suggest starting with a shorter back and sides, leaving the front fringe longer as this offers more versatility."
