Saks uk raises over £60k for the eve appeal ZIP GROUP Saks UK is committed to raising £100,000 for The Eve Appeal to fund research into earlier detection of the five women-only cancers and May’s activities bring the Saks4Eve total to over £60,000! Most recently Margaret Watson, salon owner of Saks Whitley Baywanted to do something special to mark her involvement in the two-year charity partnership. Having zipped across the Tyne last year she decided to notch things up with a unifying challenge that other Saks salons could participate in; as well as a couple of relatives too! With a little help from Saks UK, Margaret arranged an outing to Zip World in North Wales to take the Velocity challenge – known as ‘the longest, and fastest zip wire in Europe’. Participants hurtle head first across the disused Penryn Quarry in Bethesda near Bangor, reaching speeds of up to 120 mph! Athena Lamnosis, CEO of The Eve Appeal, says: “Wow! What an amazing event for Saks to have organised; a team that really is up for a challenge where raising funds and awareness for women’s cancers is concerned.  Team Eve – women affected by these cancers, our scientists, medics and volunteers – are incredibly proud of all 39 hair and beauty experts who took part in the zip wire challenge." The Zip Challenge has raised £7,612.33 so far. To boost May’s fundraising total a huge raffle from the brand’s three salons in Aberdeen raised over £1,700. Senior stylist Charlotte Tutchings of Saks Exeter chose to skydive 15,000 feet on her 21st birthday, raising £335 in the process. May’s activities bring the Saks4Eve total to £60,119.56. Stephen Kee, Managing Director at Saks UK, says: “Our Saks4Eve fundraising just gets better and better. The way our people have committed to our chosen charity partnership is a breath of fresh air. We’re about making women look and feel special and our people and customers really are demonstrating our commitment to our cause."
