Saks Hair & Beauty Raises Over £250,000 for Gynaecological Cancers

Salon group Saks Hair & Beauty has raised more than £250,000 for gynaecological cancer charity The Eve Appeal through its long-running Saks4Eve partnership.

The Eve Appeal is a leading UK gynaecological cancer charity funding research into the prevention and early detection of womb, ovarian, cervical, vulval and vaginal cancers, with the aim of improving survival rates.

Gynaecological cancers receive just 5% of cancer research funding in the UK, despite around 22,050 new cases being diagnosed each year. To date, The Eve Appeal has invested more than £10 million into research spanning screening, early diagnosis and risk prediction.

Over the course of the partnership, Saks teams have taken on everything from zip-wiring, cycling and skydiving to baking, running, raffles and treks, with clients also getting involved in fundraising efforts.

Janet King, Head of Marketing at Saks, says: “Our Saks4Eve partnership means a lot to us. Because providing gorgeous hair and beauty was never the whole story at Saks. We're super thankful to our clients, families and friends who've chipped in repeatedly and our teams for saying yes to every mad challenge, and for every conversation that made someone feel able to ask a question or get something checked.

“The Eve Appeal sits at the heart of what we do. We help women feel amazing and look out for them and each other while we’re at it.”

Athena Lamnisos, CEO of The Eve Appeal, says: “When Saks chose The Eve Appeal as its charity partner, we gained a team of incredible champions. Saks4Eve is a powerful partnership! Over the years, they’ve climbed peaks, run races, hosted events, given time and brought people together behind our cause in the most glamorous Saks-fashion possible.

“But perhaps the greatest contribution has been helping women feel more comfortable talking about their gynae health and encouraging them to seek help when something doesn't feel right. That happens in Saks salons, and it’s had an incredible impact – one life-saving conversation at a time.

“Every pound raised, every campaign supported and every conversation started has helped us move closer to our vision of a future where gynae cancers are prevented or detected at an earlier stage. From all of us at Eve, thank you for being such a valued part of our mission.”
