The celebrity hairdresser raised £1000 for the industry charity by completing the Great North Run, the world's biggest half marathon.

Richard finished in a very impressive 1 hour 51 minutes and has had his appetite whetted for more charity runs in the future.

Speaking after the race, he said: "It was a great atmosphere - the fantastic North East people really spur you along with their support from the sidelines and it was a magnificent feeling to run over the famous bridges of the Tyne.

"I was lucky not to get injured, and I hope to go for a full marathon with Sophie next time."

Other celebrities taking part in this year's Great North Run included Gethin Jones, BBC Breakfast's Bill Turnbull, Marshall Lancaster (Life on Mars), commentator Jim Rosenthal, Nell Mc Andrew, actress Amanda Burton and Apprentice winner Lee McQueen.
