The BAFTAs 2012 saw a series of stylish, suave and immaculately-groomed gents strut up the red carpet with actors including award-winner Jean DuJardin and nominees Brad Pitt and George Clooney leading in the style stakes. Here HJ's Men's Hairdresser of the Year, Jamie Stevens, gives his thoughts on the best-tressed men at the 2012 British Academy Awards.

Adam Deacon
JS: "I like the neat, sharp line Adam's got going on here. The shorter sides give it a modern edge too."
Michael Fassbender
JS: "A simple, short back and sides that works perfectly for Best Actor nominee, Mr Fassbender. Neatly groomed and trimmed to perfection."

Brad Pitt
JS: "This slick-backed look is very sophisticated and long hair is a great look for men this year - combined with the groomed beard, I think this makes Brad look younger."
Douglas Booth
JS: "The length and texture of this cut look great on Douglas. This really messy, shaggy crop has been all over the catwalks too, making it an on-trend choice."

Colin Firth
JS: "It's nice to see Colin with his natural gentle curl and body and it's also nice to see him embracing his greys rather than trying to cover them up."
Daniel Radcliffe
JS: "Daniel's side-parting and sleek fringe really underpin his growing maturity and work well with the sharp tailoring. I think it could be a stronger look though - I'd like to get my hands on it!"

Cuba Gooding Jr
JS: "Cuba's natural afro texture works really well in contrast to the sharp barbering and lines of his cut."
George Clooney
JS: "The salt-and-pepper grey looks really distinguished on George, while the short military cut is simple and youthful. He's still a big reference point for many gents in the salon."

Hugh Jackman
JS: "I'm not sure if it's for a film role or his personal preference, but the cut and the beard look a little disjointed here. Trimming the beard would flatter the shape of the cut more."
Russell Crowe
JS: "The light brown shade through the hair softens Russell's features but the length through the front needs a bit of playing with - the curl is vaguely reminiscent of TinTin, which probably isn't quite the image Russell is going for!"

Jean Dujardin
JS: "French actor Jean Dujardin was the main man last night, taking the prestigious Best Actor award. His look is very Sarkozy-esque, but nonetheless he works the polished look."
John Hamm
JS: "A beautiful, simple cut that is given a nice edge with the length through the front. It does look like he's washed and gone though - it could use a bit of shaping for his red carpet moment."
