New York Fashion Week got off to a stylish start this season with the annual AmFar Gala, which raises money for AIDS research, prevention and education.
The star-studded event attracted an unsurprisingly fashionable crowd, with supermodels including Cindy Crawford and Linda Evangelista rubbing shoulders with modern fashionistas like Alexa Chung and Sarah Jessica Parker.
Here we take a look at the hairstyle hits and misses from the night, with comments from Alexander Turnbull of Alexander Hair & Beauty, Hull.
Cindy Crawford
Cindy's long flowing locks and subtle caramel highlights look extremely glamorous. Highlights are also a great way to cover up the odd grey hair!
Linda Evangelista
"A combination of Linda's bright red lipstick, mahogany-spiced locks and porcelain skin make for gorgeous, show-stopping look. When it comes to her hair Linda is not afraid to experiment. Rumour has it she changed her hair colour a whopping 17 times in the space of four years in her heyday!

Minus the gold turban, I'm sure this hair style is ultra glamorous and feminine. However for me the scarf is a real distraction and takes away from the look.
