Elton John's annual AIDS Foundation Party attracted a star-studded crowd of stylish A-listers including Katy Perry, Kelly Osbourne and Dita von Teese. Here we take a look at the hottest hairstyles from the night, with thoughts from some of hairdressing's harshest critics.

Dita von Teese
"A timeless classic with a retro 50s-inspired look that is current and glam - especially for an occasion like Elton's party. Dita carries this really well and the make up is perfect as always... she's an icon herself."
Robert Kirby, Sanrizz, Knightsbridge, London
Vanessa Hudgens
"I love this Marylin Monroe-inspired style. A classic bob never grows old and the curl adds nice texture and volume, which works fantastically along with the rich chocolate brown colour that complements her skin tone perfectly."
Hannah Skinner, TIAKDI, Theydon Bois, ESSEX

Kelly Osbourne
"Kelly is looking great at the moment - only she could carry off the grey look. I think a nice change would be to add some warm tones to lift her and make it slightly softer and then she will be bang on trend."
Zoe Clarke, Q Hair and Beauty, Chichester
Katy Perry
"Katy Perry is always adventurous when it comes to her hair colour. She carries the striking shades of vibrant tones exceptionally well. Her long asymmetric bob is soft yet sharp and styled with a subtle flick it gives a great reflection along side her bold and bright colour."
Jess Patching, Decadence Salon, Bloomsbury, London

Mena Suvari
"I like this type of updo and in my view the whole look is great. Mena is particularly suited to this style of updo with her face shape and so beautiful too. She worked it well on the red carpet."
Hayley Quinlin, TIKADI, Ongar
Gwen Stefani
"Gwen's hair is so on trend right now, it's been all over the catwalk's at fashion week. It shows confidence and a strong independent woman. My only thoughts are on the shade of blonde - it would be nice to have it a little cooler as it looks a little raw/yellow. If the sides had been a little closer/tighter to her head with a little gloss product and just a little flatter on top it would look more noughties than 1950s - but overall she looks fabulous as always not many people can pull of a red lip bold and daring."
Angela Lowery , Y Salon , Newcastle.

Miley Cyrus
"I love Miley's more classic, mature look and her modern take on the marcel waves works perfectly with this whole ensemble. The subtle ombre shades accentuate those waves wonderfully to give it an even classier look."
Tiff J, 3thirty Hair and Beauty, Shoreditch London
Jessica Lowndes
"This hair up style is both classic and elegant and works beautifully for Jessica's face shape. The rich coffee brown colour enhances her golden skin tone and brings out her eye colour. A great timeless look."
Karen Hyam, Atelier Hairdressing & Beauty Rooms, Redbourn

Marissa Miller
"Unfortunately Marissa's colour doesn't work at all well with this style. The very dark roots are enhanced by the strong structure of the updo making it look slightly cheap. The ombré technique needs to be softened and toned through on the mid-engths and I would have a little less hair falling forward onto her face too."
Karen Hyam, Atelier Hairdressing & Beauty Rooms, Redbourn
Heidi Klum
"Heidi is an elegant and a beautiful woman who can get away with almost any up do. This is a very subtle, simple and casual hair do but is perhaps lacking a bit of glamour. I feel that she should have put a little bit more effort into her hair this time. After all, it is Elton John's party."
Mark Dancel, Decadence Salon, Bloomsbury
