Recognising high achievers

As well as being a time to set and communicate the strategy and goals for your team and business for the New Year, January is also a time to reflect on the previous year and celebrate the successes and achievements of your performers. It is always an honour to be invited to share in these celebrations and last weekend saw the p/sa Conference and Awards take place in the beautiful setting of Airth Castle. Competition is always fierce amongst this high performing team with salons competing against each other but ultimately united in the goals set by Creative Director, Jon MacLeod. Four awards were given to Gary Murdoch including the much coveted p/sa Stylist of the Year trophy with Jay Calder winning Image and Collection of the Year. The team at Dalkeith celebrated with the Retail and Salon of the Year Awards whilst Commercial Quay were awarded the Artistic Salon of the Year title. Whilst the team may share the same goals, it is the individual performances that will determine success or failure as a whole but as each person will respond to different motivators, being able to identify these is the difference between good and great managers. They will use the triggers that individuals respond to the best to ensure the highest standard of performance and recognise and reward individuals in a way that motivates them to excel.
