Public school autumn/winter 2014: get the hair look Public School Autumn/Winter 2014: Get the Hair Look The Public School Autumn/Winter 2014 saw Allen Ruiz create flyaway texture inspired by layering in the collection. The show: Public School Autumn/Winter 2014 The hair team: Aveda global artistic director for hair styling, Allen Ruiz The look: Flyaway texture The inspiration: Layered elements in the collection The key product: Aveda Control Paste "I took inspiration from the layered elements in the line," said Allen Ruiz. "The off-center, uneven part makes it purposely less than perfect. I brought texture back into the hair by layering products to mess it up and enhance movement." Get the look Start with clean, dry hair and create an off-center parting. To prep the hair for styling, spray Aveda Pure Abundance Style-Prep throughout the hair from roots to ends. Then brush it out to distribute the product evenly and add natural bulk to each strand. Create a low braid and secure at the bottom with an elastic. Massage Control Paste into the braid to build texture then loosen it with your fingertips. Apply just a hint of heat to the braid to lock in the pliable hold then clip it up to cool it down. Take the braid out and add an extra bend in the hair with a one-inch flat iron. Spray the roots of the hair with Air Control Hair Spray for a flexible, lasting hold. Its dry delivery will add a matte appearance. Finish with the new Dry Remedy Daily Moisturizing Oil by emulsifying it into your hands and layering it into the ends of the hair to leave them soft and full of shine.
