Percy and reed east in london: interiors inspiration

Percy and Reed East is the second outpost of Paul Percival and Adam Reed's successful salon group, Percy and Reed. Located in Spitalfields, Percy & Reed East combines East-End cool with contemporary comforts for a salon that's packed full of design features. Taking its inspiration from the market building's history as a banana and tomato importer, Percy and Reed East features flashes of yellow and red throughout as well as holes in the walls which were originally used to keep the grocery produce cool. Further nods to the space's East End roots come through stencilled quotes of Cockney rhyming slang on the walls, as well as in the Jimmy Choo - loo! Further features of note include an open front of house area, which feels more like a boutique store than a standard reception area, complete with candles and fragrances for sale. The backwash is housed in the building's original office, with spare towels stored in the former safe and unique floor tiles designed especially for the salon. Cutting stations throughout are vintage finds from Denmark, buffed and restored to their former glory with a little TLC. Perhaps the salon's most special space is the colour area, which houses the Percy & Reed Colour Station to discover not only the best shade for each client at the consultation stage, but is also equipped to demonstrate how it looks in a variety of light. The spacious area also houses a library of style books, making your colour development time a kick-back-and-relax pleasure rather than a clock-watching process. Dotted through the salon are vintage pieces and personal treasures procured by Adam and Percy - portraits of their dogs, an appealing-looking retro TV and well-thumbed copies of favourite books.
