Paul Mitchell introduced their latest product line, Marula Oil, as part of their 2014 Gathering event in Las Vegas.
The super-luxe, restorative range professional haircare range comprises a shampoo, conditioner, masque and treatment oil, all infused with the healing powers of Marula Oil. Harvested in South Africa, the Marula nut has been used by indigenous people for centuries thanks to its moisturing, conditioning properties. Today, Paul Mitchell are bringing its benefits to a salon audience - and providing jobs for 4,000 people in Africa at the same time. Marula Oil is set to launch in the US at the end of 2014, with a UK date to be confirmed.
The Ultimate Color Repair range also previewed on day one of Paul Mitchell's annual brand conference. The Shampoo, conditioner and heat protection spray all harness the power of super-food quinoa, to lock in colour for up to nine weeks.
The 2014 Gathering kicked off, as usual, with a spectacularly inspiring show from founder John Paul Dejoria - who descended in to the venue on a flying motorbike - co-owner Angus Mitchell, and global artistic director Robert Cromeans. Joined by a cast of artists and a host of hundreds of models, the audience were treated to creative shows covering the two new product lines, as well as
Mitch Men,
Neuro Tools and
Awapuhi.

Also unveiled as part of the Gathering's opening show was Origami, the beautiful new editorial collection for 2014. Creative styling and even more creative colour are at the heart of this range, which was showcased with models sporting made-on-stage origami paper creations.
Feeling suitably inspired, attendees then headed into classrooms for day one of hairdressing education. "The classrooms are hugely important to us," said Robert. "Watching isn't learning. It's inspiring, but getting hands on is how you really learn."
