The Fellowship for British Hairdressing's Colour Project recently enjoyed their third masterclass of the year; an up-close and personal session with Paul Dennison from Ken Picton.
A former winner of
HJ's Schwarzkopf Professional British Colour Technician of the Year, Paul is a true colour guru and the perfect person to advise a panel of budding colourists.
He started his day with the team by sharing examples of his past work, as well as the moodboards behind the images. He not only shared insight into his techniques, but also provided insight into how to make the most of photoshoots and make sure that you capture your work at its very best.
Paul then demonstrated a new technique for the team, creating lines in the hair to give a shadowing effect, as well as some of his freehand painting. In the afternoon, it was over to the young colourists to play with some techniques of their own, working with cling-film, cord, cut-outs and stencils to create some truly bespoke results.
Paul said, "Really play around with colour, try new things, be over adventurous - happy accidents are sometimes the best way of creating new techniques."
