Anna Paquin opted for a twisted updo, combining elements of a classic French pleat with a more rock chick feel, thanks to the texture and quiff on top. A perfect match to her high-neck dress, which features all of the detail on the top half.

A new shade for Britney Spears! I actually think this shade looks really nice on Britney and it's good to see her looking genuinely happy and healthy - although I'm not sure
that the style is completely perfect. I'd love to see her with some waves or maybe even an updo.

I love the concept of Carmen Electra's style and the super-glossy, slightly wet-look feel that she's opted for but I reckon this bun could do with a bit of padding out with a few extensions to give it real wow factor.

We didn't see many braided looks this award season, so I was delighted to see Chelsea Handler opting for something really sporty and sculpted. I think this style looks fantastic on her and works perfectly with her high-neck, sporty feel gown.

More of the same for Emeli Sande with this voluminous blonde quiff. She looks great with this style, but I'd love to see her try something new - fingerwaves would look amazing with that colour!

It's a total princess look for Emmy Rossum - I adore the unabashed romance of this look, which is perfectly topped off with an elaborate pearl and diamond tiara. It might be a bit OTT for the unofficial party - perhaps better suited to the actual Oscars? - but I love, love, love this style regardless!

We often see Heidi Klum rocking the swept-back, sleek look and there's no denying that it suits her - and her jaw-dropping gown. Classic supermodel style, although I do miss her gravity-defying updos of previous years.

Kim Kardashian opted for a sleek style too, amping up the vamp look with a wet-look finish and dark lips. I'm not too keen on her dress, but this is one of my favourite styles from Kim, possibly ever.

Kourtney Kardashian's two-tone ponytail brings to mind the hair at Alexander Wang by Guido that we saw earlier this season. I'm not sure if that was intentional, but it's a great look and works well with the high neckline too.

I almost mistook Miley Cyrus for Ellen here - that bleach blonde crop with a quiff instantly brings the TV host to mind. It's great to see Miley experimenting with edgier, more youthful looks rather than the classic Hollywood waves that we see so much of.

Naomi Campbell always looks amazing but this look is a more romantic style than we're used to seeing on the fierce supermodel. Super-glossy curls and a flirty fringe add up to a soft, sexy, timeless style.

We can always rely on Nicki Minaj to bring something different to the red carpet, but this was a fairly safe style for the usually outrageous musician. I love the trashy feel of that bold black stripe contrasting against the pristine Hollywood blonde waves.
