Yes, 45 marks the age when panic about appearance really sets in for men, according to the latest research from Mintel, and hair colour is the number one concern among 75% of this age group - not everyone enbraces the salt and pepper look made fashionable by George Clooney, it seems.
Infact, grey hair is the biggest concern for UK men in general, cited as a major worry by 51% of respondents. Hair loss or thinning is the second most common concern - worrying 40% of men, while ear and nose hair was upsetting 38% of respondents.
Head of beauty at Mintel. Vivienne Rudd said: "Although grey hair is traditionally seen as a mark of distinction in men, the reality is many men are unhappy with their newfound gravitas. As a result, older men may feel they need to try to maintain appearance and, therefore, bring a future boost to the male grooming market."
Here's to mid-life crises then!
