The 2011 NME Awards recognised the best in rock and alternative music from the last twelve months. Affectionately dubbed the 'Brats' in contrast to the pop-friendly Brits, the awards always attract the creme of the indie world.

Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker pretty much defined geek chic, and continues to rock long unstyled locks in to his 40s. Few men could carry off this dishevelled style and salt-and-pepper beard combo and look so suave, but Jarvis Nails it.
Primal Scream's Bobbie Gillespie also proves that long hair can be a cool choice for the older gent, with a shoulder-length pageboy style. His hair looks refreshingly healthy and full of body - there's nothing worse than long, limp hair on a man!

The awards certainly attract a few peacocks - these musical men probably spend just as much time on their hair as their female counterparts.
I'm delighted to see that the devilishly handsome Mark Ronson has finally grown nearly all that bleach out - he looks far better as a brunette, and the remaining blonde through the lengths manages to look cool rather than grown-out.
My Chemical Romance frontman Gerard Way is famed for his colourful locks, and is currently rocking a bright red hue. This uber-fake look is actually a hot colour trend at the moment, with stylish stars including Rihanna and Florence Welch rocking the supernatural shade. Well played Gerard!
