Nicole richie goes for gun-metal grey

As celebrities continue to explore the rainbow of results that professional colour can provide (Kesha, Kelly, Anna, we're looking at you), Nicole Richie has switched things up with a more subtle - but equally striking - look. Previously a proponent of blue hair, Nicole's new look is a sleek gun-metal grey. There's an almost metallic feel to the colour, which is bang on trend for the coming Fall/Winter 2014 season. Futuristic, stainless steel shades are set to be a hit over the next few months and as the gap between hair colour and fashion grows ever smaller, why shouldn't that trend also apply to hair hues? We spoke to Terry Longden, Creative Stylist at Ethos, and Matrix Artistic Director for Colour, to find out how to get the look... "Nicole Richie's new gun-metal shade colour looks great on her. The subtlety of shades and depths creates a sophisticated look which is far more flattering to her skintone that the lavender hue she started with, which is better suited to fair skin tones as Kelly Osbourne demonstrates. "To achieve this look, first of all the hair has to be pre lightened to a very pale yellow (this will help avoid green tones) then for extra help with condition, cocktail using an ammonia free oil delivery product such as ColorInsider from Matrix, with 60mls of Clear plus 10mls of 2AA to create a metallic blue."
