New york fashion week spring/summer 2013: haus alkire
The TIGI creative directors created dual-textured hair with braids for the Haus Alkire Spring/Summer 2013 show at New York Fashion Week.
Show: Haus Alkire
Stylist: Heath Grout and Marco Iafrate for TIGI
The inspiration: A Vesper-inspired, bat-like creature residing on a Polynesian island. The hair featured transitions in texture and shape, with flyaways and knots reflecting the naturalistic inspirations of the collection.
The look: Futuristic, textured spun silk with a casual top-knot at the crown.
Get the look: Beginning with straight hair, create a defined centre parting and prep with Catwalk by TIGI Curlesque Lightweight Mousse.
Using the tail of a comb, rotate a linear section of hair directly parallel to the parting into a defined twist, covering the previously exposed scalp, and secure with pins at the crown.
Create a triangular section of hair at the crown, pull in remaining hair from the twist from step two, and secure into a pony tail using an elastic.
Coil this pony tail into a figure-of-eight shape and secure with a tie, creating a knot at the crown.
Divide the remaining hair into two-inch sections and prep with Catwalk by TIGI Session Series Work It Hairspray before winding into individual figure-of-eight shapes and securing with metal clips.
Once entire head is twisted, apply heat to each twist with TIGI Pro Flat Iron using metal clips as conduits, and allow to cool.
Remove all of the metal clips and gently brush out, back-brushing slightly to create texture.
Set the look with Catwalk by TIGI Your Highness Weightless Shine Spray.
