Paul Hanlon created deconstructed chic for the 3.1 Phillip Lim Autumn/Winter 2013 show at New York Fashion Week.

Show: 3.1 Phillip Lim

Stylist: Paul Hanlon

The inspiration: Kate Moss

The look: Textured waves with a side parting.

Get the look: Hair was prepped with Frédéric Fekkai Full Blown Volume Styling Whip to add guts and texture, before blow-drying in with a round brush.

"We're making it beautiful, then we're destroying it," said Paul, "because if you start with a destroyed texture, it can look poor."

Hair was then spritzed with Frédéric Fekkai Luscious Curls Wave Activating Spray and tonged loosely to add movement throughout.

Clumps of hair were the pinned in place, "as though it had been caught in a scarf." Another pin was then added above the ear to add to the casual, self-styled feel.

Key products: Frédéric Fekkai Full Blown Volume Styling Whip, Luscious Curls Wave Activating Spray
