Antoinette Beenders created regal fishtail braids for the Christian Siriano Autumn/Winter 2013 show at New York Fashion Week.

The inspiration: "Christian and I have collaborated for many seasons," said Antoinette. "This collection is inspired by the golden age of Russian Opera and Saint Petersburg's Mariinsky Theatre. The clothing is rich and opulent, so we designed a sophisticated, feminine look to properly complement it. From the front, the look has a lovely roundness. The braids at the back evoke refinement and glamour, reminiscent of a Russian girl dressed for an evening at the opera. I'm thrilled with how it all turned out."
The look: Glossy fishtail braids pinned around the head.
Get the look: Prep hair with Aveda Pure Abundance Style Prep to give hair some texture and grit. Blow-dry hair straight.
Create a clean centre part from forehead to nape using a tail comb. Make an inverted fishtail braid on each side of the head, beginning at the crown and working to the back of the ear. Secure the end of each braid with an elastic band.
Tame flyaways with Aveda Air Control Hair Spray. Add some fullness by gently massaging braids.
Fold the braids over one another across the back of the head, just above the nape, in a criss-cross fashion. Tuck ends under and secure with bobby pins. Finish with a misting of Aveda Air Control Hair Spray.
