For the first time in its history, Children with Cancer UK is teaming up with the hair industry to raise essential funds for families facing a childhood cancer diagnosis with the Style Against Cancer campaign. This exciting new initiative asks hairstylists across the country to host a fundraising day in their salons for one of the leading national childhood cancer research charities, leaving clients looking good and stylists feeling good.
Whether working as a mobile stylist, in a hairdressing academy, barbershop or salon, the Children with Cancer UK charity is asking hair stylists to come together and raise funds. Supported by celebrities including Claudia Winkleman, and others to be revealed, Style Against Cancer will be taking place from October 2 2023. What's more, Friday October 6 will be the key #Istyleagainstcancer online event day.
Participating salons will set up a Just Giving page to start their fundraising, and clients can help them reach their target by using a QR code from the comfort of their chair in the salon. Each event is unique to each salon and they will receive a pack of bespoke materials to decorate their space. Unfortunately, 10 families receive a childhood cancer diagnosis everyday in the UK. Therefore, the funds raised through Style Against Cancer will support research into kinder and less toxic treatments for children.
Jo Elvin, CEO at Children with Cancer UK, comments: “Hairdressers of Britain are with us through it all. From those big life moments to the polite summer holiday chat, the conversations that happen in their chairs reach every community. This is why we are asking salons and barbershops to support Style Against Cancer and help our mission of having a world where every child survives cancer.”
