Eugene Souleiman created romantic updos with strength for the Missoni Autumn/Winter 2014 collection.
The show: Missoni Autumn/Winter 2014
The hair team: Eugene Souleiman, global creative Director for Wella Professionals
The look: Slightly askew top know with soft wispy pieces creating a halo effect
The inspiration: Hair for the thinking woman - romantic and ethereal-looking at first but with strength
The key product: Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz Beach Spray
"The inspiration behind the look came from a number of sources; from the optimistic soundtrack which was almost like a beautiful fanfare, to the strong, pioneering women of the early twentieth century," said Eugene. "I was reminded of the women from the Bloomsbury Group and other intellectual circles that campaigned and supported what were then unconventional ideas and ideals. The type of woman who would do her hair on the move because she had a lot more important things to think about."
Get the Look
1. Wash the hair with Wella Professionals Brilliance shampoo and conditioner.
2; Roughly blow-dry the hair.
3. Once the hair is completely dry, work through section by section spraying the roots with Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz Beach Texture Spray. Spray from a distance so as not to saturate the hair, but instead give it a fine coating.
4. Once all the roots are sprayed, brush the hair through gently with a soft bristle brush.
5. Gently blow-dry the hair using your fingers to shape and holding the head upside down to create some root lift.
6. Once the product has dried and the hair has taken on a fresh, wind-blown look, rake your fingers through. Pull hair back and drag across to one side of the temple and tie with elastic, ensuring that the hair is not tight to the head but has a loose, baggy shape to it.
7. Support the base of the ponytail with a couple of hair grips, then fold the remaining hair in to a knot.
8. Encourage soft wispy tendrils of hair to escape around the hairline – using hair clips to secure in place if necessary.
