Men's hair trends as seen at salon international 2018

These are the four big men’s hairdressing and barbering styles fresh from Salon International that you need to get on your radar. From men's hair colour to 1980s-influenced styles, the trends are eclectic to say the least!

1. Colour kaleidoscope Ranging from shades of icy silver to bright indigo, barbers and men’s hairdressers got creative with colour. Andrew Smith showcased this icy blue shade (below) from his Hierarchy collection. It was created using milk_shake's new Pastel Smoothies and Corioliss styling tools. Andrew says: "My Hierarchy collection is all about men who are used to getting what they want. They wear what they want, do what they want and aim to be king one day. The hair itself blurs the masculine and feminine. The finished looks is all in the styling." Luis Chevere, Texan barber and OSMO ambassador, also showcase a bright indigo crop that drew crowds and demonstrated how important it is for barbers and men's hairdressers to create social media-worthy looks.
2. 1980s mix tape Although not to everyone’s taste, the 1980s was referenced in more than one hair look on the men’s stage. Totally rad styles rocked the stage. Mullets came from Pete Burkill (pictured below), Jarred Liddington created a softly styled mohican and Jonathan Andrew cut a graphic fringe on his model.
3. Old school barbershop Slicked-back styles, pompadours and fades still reign supreme proving the classics have still got pulling power. Schorem Barbers were a huge hit on the HJ Men stage appearing on both Sunday and Monday displaying their quintessential and unmistakable flat tops and pompadours with a rock n' roll vibe. Kevin Luchmun showcased classic and neat quiffs and side parted styles (pictured below). Nordic style was brought to the HJ Men stage for Tom Chapman and Paul Nicholson's set. The pair demoed Fit for Vikings techniques which Tom has been developed for the Norwegian brand.
4. Cultural Trend: Barbershop styles on women’s hair This year has seen a dramatic rise in female clients visiting barbershops and this trend was reflected on the HJ Men stage with barbers demonstrating their skills on female models. We saw Ruffians cut and style a peroxide blonde crop with short fringe (pictured below) and Tom Baxter style a bright pink side sweeping cut and hair pattern using the OSMO Color Pyscho range.
