Matrix icons on tour

Matrix hosted a celebration of icons this autumn, when the hairdressing icons that make up its artistic team put on a 12-date tour that showcased the celebrity hair icons of the last 60 years.

Working live on stage in pairs, each event saw a dynamic duo re-inventing the most famous celebrity looks of all time, but giving them a modern twist perfect for the audience to take back to their salons. 

From Marilyn Monroe and Madonna to Twiggy and Chrissie Hynde, each stop on the national tour provided audiences with the opportunity to get inspired by classic looks - and learn how to give them an on-trend twist for a 21st century audience.

Dublin

Kieron O'Gorman, Beauty & Day Spa, Ireland and Jamie Stevens, hosted by Essential Salon Supplies

Cuts were given extra depth and dimension with glossy panels of colour, highlighting details within the style and drawing attention to focal points.

Manchester 

Gary Hooker & Michael Young, Hooker & Young, hosted by Alan Howard

Contrasting texture were key, with colour bringing Gary and Michael's creations to life for a vibrant style showcase.

Liverpool

Volume - and lots of it - created stand-out looks in Liverpool, with cool matte textures bringing Marcus and Paul's iconic looks right up to date.

Birmingham

Jamie Stevens and Nathan Jasztal, hosted by Aston & Fincher

Jamie Stevens put his experience styling the stars on X Factor to good use in Birmingham, creating perfect popstar looks; from asymmetric crops and tough-girl quiffs to bouncy curls and extreme volume.

Cardiff

Curls got a colourful update in Cardiff, with textured styles getting an on-trend update with peekaboo panels of colour to highlight cuts and texture.

Northampton

Colour was key for Jamie and Ross, with shades of silver, pastel pink and vibrant red bringing to life crops and curls.

Leeds

Smooth and sleek were the watchwords in Leeds, where classic cuts were given extra polish with rich Autumnal shades of red and blonde.

Southampton

The 80s got an update in Southampton, with angular crops, rock-chick quiffs and Madonna-esque curls softened for a modern crowd.

Cambridge
