Niki Walker and the Paul Mitchell team created rock-chick volume with a slicked back section for the Mark and Estel Autumn/Winter 2014 show.
The show: Mark and Estel Autumn/Winter 2014
The hair team: Niki Walker for Paul Mitchell
The look: Slicked back styles with plenty of volume
The inspiration: Rock chick
The key product: Paul Mitchell Neuro Dry
Get the Look
1. Apply Awapuhi Wild Ginger HydroCream Whip throughout dry hair, then use a Neuro Dry to blow-dry the hair.
2.Next use a teasing brush to section hair into three parts: top (part hair from each temple to just below the crown of the head), middle (ear to ear) and bottom (leave the hair down).
3. In the middle section at the back of the head, create an upside-down triangle directly under the crown and secure the hair with an elastic.
4. Take the remaining hair from each side of the middle section and brush it back towards the upside down triangle.
5. Use Awapuhi Wild Ginger Finishing Spray to keep these sections as smooth as possible and secure the hair to the upside-down triangle section using an elastic.
6. Next, release the hair from the top section and spray Awapuhi Wild Ginger Texturizing Sea Spray to create extra volume.
7. Taking one-inch sections, pull hair upwards with maximum tension and use a teasing brush to brush hair towards the head at the root.
8. After teasing the entire section, use Awapuhi Wild Ginger Shine Spray and your teasing brush to smooth everything back and remove any part lines to create one cohesive look.
9. Smooth out the back corners of the look by pinning them down with hairpins.
