The colour consultation is one of the most important aspects of the colour service, but what is the key to a successful consultation? And if you aren't already offering one what should you be doing? A selection of top colourists give this advice:
"Spend some time on your consultations as this will set you up for a successful service and in return create client loyalty and ultimately grow your business."
Christel Lundqvist
“Often team members get into the mindset that saving time means earning more money, but I can assure you that customers will always value the care and integrity of a salon that offers professional, tailored advice and services, with the customers’ safety and happiness as top priority.”
Matthew Curtis
"An in-depth consultation can really help salons personalise their client’s experience as it provides an insight into their likes and dislikes. It is a great way to help tailor the salon services to fit their client’s bespoke needs and therefore give a much fuller experience."
Robert Eaton
"Always (ALWAYS!) do a patch test and educate every member of the team on the importance of in-depth consultations. Do them properly and you will have confident clients, confident stylists and colours to be proud of that bring you client loyalty and growth of your colour business."
Steven Smart
"You're setting yourself up to fail if you don't offer a colour consultation. You need to find out the correct information - if a salon doesn’t do a full consultation you don't have the trust of the client because they’re not always sure what’s going on. You need this process to explain how to look after your colour, what problems they had so you can fix it, and we always get a second opinion with another stylist; two heads are better than one and everything is clear to everybody, there’s no chance of miscommunication."
Simon Hall
"Put yourself in the client’s shoes, would you feel confident in the service you’re about to have?"
