The ghd team, headed by creative director Kenna, created slick, strict ponytails for the Maria Grachvogel Spring/Summer 2012 show.

Bound with leather straps, the ponytails featured a fun twist to counteract the strict finish - a zig-zag parting, snaking across the scalp.

Tied at the nape of the neck, these ponytails were tight and smooth, with super sleek lengths achieved with a stroke of ghd Stylers.

Kenna said: "Although it looks easy and low-key from the front there's a little more to it than meets the eye. We created a double ponytail and then embellished it with a zig-zag parting to echo the detail in Maria's signature lightning dress. The strong, sharp silhouette works perfectly with such an elegant and interesting collection."

Get the look

Prep hair with ghd Heat Protect Spray and Root Lift Spray then blow-dry smooth. Create a zig-zag parting down the centre of the head using the ghd Tailcomb then section the hair at the ears by hand.

Soak the front section with ghd Final Fix Hairspray then pull back and secure into a ponytail at the nape of the neck.

Next gather the back section into a second ponytail directly under the first and strap the two together using elastic.

Iron the finished ponytail using the ghd Max Styler then mist with ghd Straight and Smooth until super-glossy. Finish by binding leather cord around the join of the ponytail so it stands out from the head.
