Stylist: Luke Hersheson for L'Oreal Professionnel

Inspiration: 1940s French hairdresser, Alexandre de Paris. The king of haute coiffure, Alexandre was famed for his work with Dior and his beautiful illustrations of hair.

The look: Luke was inspired by the elegant, ornate styles of Alexandre which really celebrate heritage hairdressing techniques. However rather than copying a classic look, Luke bought the hair firmly up to date with a freshly washed, glossy finish rather than a painstakingly set style.

He described it as how a modern girl would do an updo herself - fresh and effortless, but still with something to it.

Chic clips were also used, but to avoid the style looking twee, Luke added three or four to each girl.

Get the look: Texture was key, so hair was freshly washed for a squeaky clean finish. Hair was then misted with Air Fix and 'thrown up' by Luke himself, clamping in place with pins and adding statement Daks clips.

Key products: L'Oreal Professionnel Tecni Art Air Fix - and lots of it!

The gossip: Made in Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh is currently undertaking work experience at Glamour magazine and was given the thumbs up from the rest of the press for being backstage on time at 8am sharp.
