Liv tyler updates sideswept trend with a chunky braid

Sideswept hairstyles are an A-list favourite; from Rita Hayworth's tumbling auburn waves to Alice Dellal's grungy undercut, there's something instantly alluring about a mane of hair tossed casually over one shoulder.
The 2011 award season has seen a huge selection of stars opting for the retro style, and at a New York party last night actress Liv Tyler gave the trend her own unique twist with a chunky plaited addition.
Plaiting hair close to the head is a great way of keeping the 'opposite' side of this look smooth and flat, but opting for an intricate style Liv makes it a detail in itself.
One side says pure Hollywood glamour with glossy, bouncy waves - the other says urban cool with the funky plait. Best of both worlds!
