Lfw aw18 trend report: 1970s skate culture at xiao li

Taking inspiration from 1970s skate culture, Xiao Li drew on photographer Hugh Holland’s saturated, coloured imagery to capture the unapologetic attitude of skater girls. Lead stylist for evo Mark Francome Painter says: “The Xiao Li AW18 hair look is inspired by the skater girls of LA’s Venice Beach with that textured, lived-in look that says she’s just come out of the surf and straight onto the board, whether she is wearing her hair down or scraped up nonchalantly into a deconstructed, messy topknot.” Get the Look with evo and Mark Francome Painter

1. Prep roots with Shape Vixen Voluminsing Lotion.
2. Taking large sections, spritz through Salty Dog Salt Spray and loosely briad the hair, away from the root area.
3. Diffuse with a hair dryer for approximately 10 minutes until hair is dry.
4. Work through the top sections with a small amount of Easy Tiger Smoothing Balm for a languid, day after feel and then through the ends for separation and shine.
5. Using the Roy Wide Tooth Comb pull hair back into a high ponytail with plenty of tension for defined separation and twist into a bun, securing with elastic, whilst moulding the hair and leaving out pieces out for an undone, deconstructed look.
6. Tease out wispy baby strands on the hairline by ear and mix Easy Tiger Smoothing Balm with Crop Strutters Construction Cream for tamed separation and texture.
