Launching your spring pr campaign

Launching your spring pr campaign PR Spring Louise Wood of LWPR looks at how salons can spring launch this season’s PR campaign. Spring has finally sprung, so make the most of this and have spring-cleaning your hot topic for the salon, Facebook and local press. An eye-catching gift always makes impact, so send a feather duster to your local papers and glossy magazines with an invitation attached to come into the salon for a free ‘hair spring clean’ appointment. The great thing with a gift like this is that it’s inexpensive to send out, but really does catch the attention of those busy editors. Plus, who doesn’t love a free haircut? Even if a direct editorial feature doesn’t come from this, don’t be disheartened, PR is all about brand building so the more often you send your local press stories and invites, the more you’ll be thought of when a relevant feature comes up. Make sure you link the spring cleaning story to your salon and social media, encourage clients to spring clean their hair with a fresh new look, or create an offer with a bundle of cleansing products to get hair in the best condition after being wrapped up from the cold all winter. As we step into a new season we also see the spring/summer trends from the catwalks coming to life. This is a great time to show how you and your salon are at the forefront of fashion, so choose your favourite hair trends from across the catwalks and get together your very own trend report to send to your local press. Next to a picture of the haircuts, colours or styles you love, write a little bit about what it is that makes this such a great trend for this season and then a few tips about how to recreate the look. If you can spare a few products, why not create and essential kit for creating the season’s hottest looks? Send the press your trend report with the must-have product for each look? This is a great way to give the press a gift they’ll love, and hopefully will come back to you for more hair trend advice next season! If you haven’t focussed on PR before, then make spring your fresh start and connect with your local press today! Louise Wood is HJ’s PR expert and hairdressing has been a constant at the heart of her 30 year PR career.  Louise is co-director of LWPR, a creative agency specialising in PR, salon marketing, social media and events.  galleryWidgetDec14
