Matthew Curtis created a street-meets-chic knot for the Kye Spring/Summer 2015 show at New York Fashion Week.
The show: Kye Spring/Summer 2015
The hair team: Matthew Curtis
The look: A textured knot, with loose strands framing the face for a lived-in finish.
The inspiration: Street meets chic. Hair was soft but with plenty of texture for a couture look with a rebellious feel.
The key product: Volumising spray
Get the Look
1. Begin by creating a rough centre parting.
2. Take large sections of the hair and curl using a wand, starting at the nape of the neck. Leave the ends out.
3. Spitz with volumizing styling spray and brush though lightly using a paddle brush.
4. Take the front sections of the hair and shape in different directions using a wand to create large kinks. Then brush through with the rest of the hair.
5. Apply a small amount of hair dust to the crown and rub in for extra texture.
6. Part the hair in two sections, leaving out the front sections around the face, and tie into a knot at the back of the head - repeat this depending on hair length until you reach the bottom of the hair.
7. Flip the knotted hair back on itself and pin in place just above the nape of the neck to secure. Let any loose pieces of hair fall for that natural feel.
8. Finish the look with dry shampoo and volumizing styling spray for added texture and hold.
