Kesha joins the blue-rinse brigade

If any doubt remained that blue is this summer's colour du choix for celebs, may we present Kesha with a pastel blue new 'do? OK, so Kesha is no stranger to fantasy hair hues - she's been pink, purple and green (and even all three at once) - but we're loving this slightly metallic silvery-blue shade. With her new hue, Kesha is following in the footsteps of Anna Paquin and Nicole Richie, who have both gone down the mermaid hair route this summer. Shortly before revealing her latest colour update, Kesha 'grammed a colour wheel asking her fans which shade she should choose next. The splatters of blue suggest that she'd probably already made her mind up, but we love the fact that this chameleon travels with an inspirational tool to help her decide on a daily basis! Having experimented with most colours of the rainbow, this new silvery blue shade for Kesha is the ideal complement to her blue eyes and skin tone. When toning blonde it’s important to explain to clients that this is a fun temporary colour that will wash out and fade each time the hair is washed, while also communicating the reality of achieving a certain shade that they might have seen on a celebrity. For example, advising that darker blondes may not achieve the same effect to platinum. When applying this type of hue, pre-lightened hair is a must for the toner to deposit properly. Try and test a piece of your client’s hair towards the back first to check to hue is weak or strong enough. It’s also fun to experiment so I like to have swatches of blonde hair to test multiple hues out on.
