Karen's red hue brings style to dr who

All eyes are on new Doctor Who star Karen Gillan who's beautiful red mane could turn out to be the real star of the show.

The ex-model has graced the catwalks for designer Allegra Hicks and her new role as Amy Pond in the Sci-Fi favourite means that titian locks are hitting the headlines again.

Andy Smith, Art Director at John Carne Hairdressing loves Karen's on-trend hue. "Karen Gillan has chosen a great shade which is a rich iridescent red for a more autumnal finish which works adds warmth to her skin tone," he says.

Red has been rising in popularity thanks to the recent array of gorgeous red-headed lovelies in the public eye including Florence Welch and Paloma Faith. Catwalks have also been awash with vibrant reds for the coming months.

The 22 year old looks fantastic with her hair sleeked into waves but often opts for a tousled, indie style when she is out and about and at red carpet events, giving a rebellious angle to her glowing mane. 

"Karen's got a natural kink in her hair and likes the dishevelled look which suits her. The length of the look makes it versatile which means she can tong it for a more glamorous look in the evening."

Not only is Karen one to look out for, her shade is sure to be a hit with style-conscious clients. Says Andy: "It's a block shade so the colour really stands out with lots of shine.

"It's very current right now as opposed to highlights due to the depth of shine, especially with summer approaching as it leaves hair look vibrant and healthy."
