But in 2010, the actress transformed her style, incorporating a much more fashion-conscious cut, which set the mood for her directional new wardrobe.
We spoke to some our favourite stylists about Jessica's best looks from last year.

The year started with Jessica lopping off her long extensions for a fresh, on-trend mid-length look.
Jessica's extensions are in tip-top condition and this centre-parted, wavy style has a slight 60s feel to it. Michelle says: "This ultra-glam style is one of the most popular looks at the moment. It's a fantastic choice because it's a simple styling process, which can be achieved in the salon or from home."
However the shorter cut feels modern and much more stylish - and ensures she stands out in a sea of lengthy-haired lovelies. Yuka says: "This short and edgy bob creates a really cute, fun look, and the wispy fringe finishes off the look perfectly. The tussled finish makes a boring bob look fun and flirty."
Yuka adds: "However, this hairstyle won't suit all face shapes. Lucky for Jessica she has an oval face, which is very versatile and suits most styles."

At Paris Fashion Week, Jessica showed off a slighty longer, very elegant style. The low bun and sweeping fringe - combined with classic red lips and a slightly Marilyn gown - add up to one chic look.
Michelle says: "This is by far Jessica's most elegant and sophisticated look. Creating this kind of updo is similar to sculpting a masterpiece; each will be different. This updo gives the impression that it has been created in one sweep for a casual, but elegant feel."
Proving that the layered mid-length is a massively versatile cut, Jessica also carried off corkscrew curls for a more glam red carpet look.
Yuka reveals: "The long bob was a big trend in 2010, and is likely to stick throughout 2011. Jessica has got this look just right. A lot of people make the mistake of having their bobs cut too blunt, which can make them look a bit bland. This cut is very versatile as it works on straight hair and as you can see looks fantastic on wavy hair as well."

In true Dannii Minogue style, Jess shows off a quirky neckline on her dress with a voluminous quiff and slicked-down sides.
Clive Johnston of Clive Alexander Hair Cutters, Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh says: I love Jessica's bouffant beehive. It's a stylish throwback to the swinging sixties, and yet still manages to be relevant with the mega quiff. Jessica shows us how to rock an up-do with a modern twist."
Experimenting with last season's must-have balayage trend, Jessica added colour to her style with golden lights through the lengths of her layers. Worn with a daring sequinned Balmain dress, this look strikes a perfect balance between fashionista and A-list film star.
Clive says: "Jessica's certainly got wow-factor with this faultless style. The fusion of cool and dark browns enhances her exotic features, while her mane which is stylishly tousled over her shoulders oozes sex appeal. A show stopping look."

A poker straight bob may not be the most adventurous look, but it clearly shows how far Jessica has come in 2010; from long, flowing, wavy extensions to a blunt, simple style.
Tiff J of 3thirty, London, comments: "Jessica's perfectly aligned features are strikingly defined with this graphic bob. Her enviably smooth and glossy tresses look healthy, while the placement of warm caramel highlights stops it looking too headmistress-y."
New York's Costume Institute Gala is the most fashionable event in the calendar, and offers stylish stars the opportunity to really dress up and push the boundaries.
Jessica opted for a 1930s-inspired gown, and the dainty curls around her face complete the look. As this picture snapped by her husband shows, her hair is rolled up at the back for a faux-short style.
However Tiff isn't convinced by the look, commenting: "The curls at each side of her head reminds me of Dot from Eastenders - and that can't be a good thing! It's ageing and too contrived. I think effortless, loose hair is suits Jessica so much more."
"On the plus side, I like the subdued mahogany tone, which complements her olive skin tone beautifully."
With the next round of fashion weeks just around the corner, we can't wait to see what the stylish actress has in store.
