Following in the footsteps of Milan, Paris and London, Salisbury has just enjoyed its very own fashion week, arranged by salon owner Jayne Prigent from Jas Hair.
With support from fellow Salisbury business woman, Catherine Dunning and local businesses and organisations including Salisbury cathedral, Jayne created a diverse community programme of events bringing fashion enthusiasts and local people together.
An opening show, launched by the Lord Mayor, attracted 350 attendees and showcased 23 local designers, as well as leading High Street names.
Other events over the week included a lecture by fashion historian Dr Benjamin Wild, a vintage fashion afternoon tea party and craft events for the public to get creative.
"Connecting to local businesses is my biggest drive in all this," says Jayne. "We create an amazing schedule of events and shows which also initiates working relationships between companies. Not only does it create a great community atmosphere, it also means the business community is much more tight-knit too. We had lots of the salon team involved, working backstage styling hair and front of house and we all absolutely loved it. It's certainly helped get people more aware of our salon brand and get our foot in the door of a lot more companies."
