Jared leto brings the manbraid to golden globes 2015 Jared Leto Brings the ManPlait to Golden Globes 2015 Men's hair in 2014 was all about Jared Leto, and if his ManBraid at the 2015 Golden Globes is anything to go by, he's getting a headstart on the next twelve months as a style pioneer too. Over the last twelve months, Jared has been a pioneer of men's colour thanks to his ombré - or should that be hombré - highlights. While not many guys are admittedly rocking full-on balayage in the same beautiful way as our mane man, he's certainly brought the concept of men's colour to the masses. More noticeably, Jared was arguably the most prominent supporter of the ManBun; the 2014 trend which saw men indulge in updos for the first time in living memory. This trend went worldwide, with even the most mainstream of men picking up an elastic to tie up their newly long locks. HJ Men editor, Matthew Batham, is reporting from the catwalks of London Collections: Men this week - home of plenty of weird and wonderful hairstyles. So, what does he make of the trend? "It’s inevitable that with longer hair still a trend for men, that guys are going to start experimenting with ways to wear it," says Matthew. "I don’t see this being a look that will rival the man bun, but if it suits the man wearing it, why not?! I’m all for clients and stylists experimenting with hair looks that challenge convention and raise the profile of men’s hairdressing." If anyone knows what the male market is looking for it's Jamie Stevens, HJ's Men's Hairdresser of the Year and stylist of choice for a host of male A-listers. What does he make of the ManBraid - trend to try or one to avoid? "Jared Leto is definitely someone that thinks out of the box and he is the man of the moment regarding men's trends. Rocking a braided ponytail at the Golden Globes last night made him the talking point for men and women alike. "I love the braid. It's brave, cool, undone, bold and I do think it will catch on, especially as we are seeing a trend for men's hair getting longer. "He set the trend for the "mun"(man bun), he set the "mombre" (man ombré) and now could we have the "maid" (man braid)! Let's wait and see..." [Image: MTV]
