We caught up with Jamie to find out more about his signature style and how he reinvents his trademarks for each new collection - including his colourful 2012 entry.

What is your signature look?
"I've always tried to ensure that I can master a wide range of looks and make versatility my strength, rather than being pinned down to any one signature style. This is demonstrated in the variety of awards I've won and been a finalist for, from Afro and Men's to strong cuts and editorial styling for women.
"In coming up with new looks and styles, the main emphasis is on always doing something that is beautiful, suitable and wearable, while maintaining an edge, so if anything I guess that would be my signature running through everything I do. Cultivating a signature style is an ongoing, evolutionary journey and a cyclical process of being inspired by something to put your own stamp on, before being inspired again to create something completely new."
How is your signature look reinvented for each new collection of images?
"Having a signature style is a great way to create a strong, consistent brand image. However, I'm also very conscious of not only being recognised for one specific style and feel it's important to keep things evolving and progressing. The key constant for me must always be quality and beautiful, inspiring work with an edge."

The winner of the British Hairdresser of the Year will be announced at HJ's 2012 British Hairdressing Awards on Monday November 26th at the Grosvenor House.
