I'll be seeing salon from a wheelchair - andrew barton

I am angry and fed up of having this ridiculous pot on my leg - and I've still got another five weeks stuck on these crutches.
It is so frustrating. I generally live my life at a million miles an hour (AND LOVE THAT!) so only being able to go at five miles an hour feels like I'm in stand-still.
You just don't realise how difficult it is to get round without the full use of your limbs and it has certainly made me see things from a different perspective.Last week in New York worked out okay. I got an upgrade on the flight from someone who recognised me from 10 Years Younger, I had to trade some hair advice, and recommeded a good salon near to where she lived; I managed to conduct my meetings which were very exciting - watch this space for more info on that later - and got some chill out time in the hotel –sadly no shopping!
This week has been much harder.
I've been preparing for Salon, filming for the next series of 10 Years Younger, teaching in the Academy and interviewing for new Art Team members as our team is growing, and the pot is really slowing me down.
I think I'm going to be getting the sympathy vote at Salon because I will definitely be going onto the stage in a wheelchair.
We're working on lots of different options for how I can present from the chair, but the simple fact is that we have to find a solution because I can't let people down. There are people coming from all over the world for a sell-out show and I will find a way.
I'm not going to be tearing around the rest of the Hair Show at my usual pace in a wheelchair, though - which is a shame because I really love Salon. I haven't missed one yet - not even when I was in Australia for five years - and it will be disappointing not to be able to enjoy the whole experience.
Salon has always been the UK's premier event and the most important trade show. It's a great opportunity to see old friends and find out what’s new .. This year is really exciting for the Saks ART team as we’ll unveil our new signature collection INDULGENCE live at Salon for the first time.
I'm looking forward to seeing how people react to it, but at the moment the biggest thing on my mind is working out the best way I can do the show.
Wish me luck...and say hello if you're at Salon International...see you there!
