How to use extensions for a rainbow colour effect

Hair extensions are the perfect way to add colour to a style for a temporary take on the pastel trend - and they're not just for long hair.

In this simple step-by-step, Great Lengths show how to use their pastel extensions to create a rainbow effect on a classic crop.

BeforeStep One Undercut the right side to be the same as the left side. Leave some extra length for an overall jagged shape.Step Two: From the left side, work around the neck using a diagonal stagger-cut technique from top to bottom.

Step Three: On the right side, create a zigzag line into the centre of the front of the head and apply 32-34 bonds.

Step Four: On the left side, cut a uniform line down to the nape.

Step Five: Comb the hair over onto the parting and cut around the ear using an arch shape.

Step Six: Determine the length on the top layers and cut into the ends to add softness. 

Step Seven: Slice-cut the extensions over the whole head.Step Eight: Shows the desired length.

Step Nine (Styling): Spray hair to define and separate texture.Step Ten (Styling): Blow-dry away from the roots to create height and shape.Step Eleven (Styling): Alternatively, scrunch through by hand for a more textured finish.

Extensions Used



18 strands cut in half to make 36 bonds of a bout 30cm in length. 

Colours used: pastel pink, pastel lilac and pastel peach.
