Amanda-Dicker-The-Chapel.jpgIt's that time of year when home owners up and down the country clear out the house, dust things down and start a fresh with the annual spring clean.

But why should a hair salon be any different? Award-winning salon owner and creative colourist Amanda Dicker from The Chapel  believes that an seasonal refresh can reignite your salon for the summer.

And with the salon spruced up, the chances are it might ease clients into a new spring/summer style too.

  • Follow the High Street

Fashion brands always get the timing right.  Change your salon environment when they change their windows and be ahead of the season...

  • Give Soft Furnishings a Makeover

Just like at home, your soft furnishings - like cushions and lamps - create a mood and provide interest.

Try new cushion covers in a summary fabric, or change your lampshades to reflect a seasonal trend in pattern or colour.

Even the sweets and fruit you display can be new and different for the season.  Don't forget it's always the small things that people notice.

  • Change your Flowers

Make sure you have a seasonal arrangement that looks and smells different and that is either bursting with seasonal colour or white, white, white!

  • Refresh the Refreshment Menu

Look at ways of giving your refreshments menu a seasonal twist... cucumber and mint in the water, for example, or summer fruits herbal tea will add a summer freshness to the salon experience.

  • Follow Fashion Trends

Keep up to date on all the trends for the spring/summer season in hair, makeup and fashion.

Use trustworthy magazines like Vogue and In-Style to guide you and 'sell-in' ideas for the new season well in advance.

  • Encourage a Seasonal Team Makeover

Agree in advance of the new season what makeup, hair and fashion trends you want the team to follow and then from day one of the new season, make sure they do it!

We had all our team in black with jewel colour accessories during the winter, now they're all wearing their summer look.

It's amazing how it focuses them and their clients on the new season.

  • Coordinate your Efforts

If the salon environment, the team, even the menu, changes overnight, it creates real impact so make sure all the elements are in place from day one of your makeover.
