How to advise brides on colour services prior to their wedding day For brides that regularly colour their hair, getting the timing right so that they have the best hair for their big day is a big deal. As their colourist you are in charge of organising that timeline and advising them on how to keep their hair in tip-top condition in the run up to their wedding. "I would recommend brides get their hair coloured a week or two prior to the big day," says Brooks & Brooks senior stylist Gabriella Libertini. "This gives it time to settle."
Always start with a thorough consultation so you can get her ideas along with your expertise to ensure hair will look and feel perfect on the big day.
"Leading up to the big day it’s all about moisture, moisture, moisture. Load hair with as many moisture treatments as possible in the six months leading up to the wedding. Use sulphate-free shampoos and don’t over style the hair as you don’t want burn out – you want hair to be as healthy and shiny as possible." Here are Gabriella's five top tips to colour clients leading up to the big day 1 Invest in professional, intense treatments every time you get your colour done in the months leading up to the big day. 2 Use a sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner which is softer on the hair and protects the colour. 3 Avoid over-styling and using a lot of heat on the hair as this can dry it out and leave it feeling damaged. 4 Use a leave-in serum and heat protection spray to keep hair feeling silky soft. 5 Always get colour professionally applied for the big day – you don’t want to risk anything happening to your hair!
