Hollywood legend jane russell dies at 89

Hollywood legend Jane Russell has passed away at the age of 89, it was announced today.


The actress, who starred in Gentleman Prefer Blondes alongside Marilyn Monroe, was a screen icon of the 40s and 50s and with her voluptuous curves also became a favourite pin-up girl of soldiers in World War II.


Jane retired from acting in the 1960s, commenting: "Why did I quit movies? Because I was getting too old! You couldn't go on acting in those years if you were an actress over 30."


Nevertheless, the star continued to act on stage and remained active with her church, charities, and as a member of a gospel singing group.
